Greatest victory that has come from this week?
- I was one one of the early ChristFitters, showed up on March 2011 when it was in Jeff Reed’s garage. I was out of shape and had never done Crossfit. We had 4 rounds of 8 movements. After 2 rounds I was at hurl / pass out stage, so trying to act cool I asked Jeff where the restroom was. I sat in the restroom until the hurl instinct left and returned to the group when the workout was over. Note to newcomers, pace yourself.
What accomplishments are you most proud of (outside and inside the gym)?
- I’m proud that I have been consistent with CrossFit for 5 years! Also, glad to have conquered the “Murph” 4 years in a row.
What are some of your interests outside of Christfit?
- Politics, philosophy, ideas. I am incredibly grateful for freedom, which few people in the history of the world have experienced. This gratitude evokes a sense of duty and responsibility within me. I feel like we haven’t been tending the vineyard of democracy and it is now in disrepair. In this last election season I had the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with 4 of the presidential candidates (but not Trump).
Favorite/least favorite workout movement?
- Uggg!. It’s the Erg! It can take me down.
- Creative. Loyal. Thinker.
What is something that might surprise us about you?
- I play jazz piano.
If you could choose to do a different profession for a day, what would it be?
- Investigative journalist. The fragmenting of the media and the opportunity it presents is fascinating.
What three things would be hard to live without?
- Coffee. Coffee. Coffee (Peets Major Dickinsons Blend. The best coffee ever made).
Where is one of your favorite places to eat?
- FT-33 has to be the best restaurant in the world
Any verse or reoccurring theme on your heart?
- In the past two weeks have thought many times about Galatians 1:3-5. “3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” I want to behave like I’ve been rescued.
On a typical Saturday afternoon, we would likely find you…?
- Chilling with almost no agenda. I work hard during the week so I go from 60 to 0 on the weekends.
Greatest victory that has come from this week?
- When I had nothing in the tank, God put several opportunities to love people, the time intensive kind, which required me to trust in the Lord for energy and strength.
